Team History – 2024

About the Robot

Coming into the season, the team decided on limiting the height, in order to drive underneath the Stage. This created various engineering challenges for Collecting, Scoring, and Climbing. After various prototypes, a carefully calibrated robot sung into the Competition and stunned with its simple, yet effective methods.

With the ability to score in the Speaker & Amp, Climb the Stage, and pickup off the floor, this robot glided across the field with ease. Coupled with custom AI programming, the robot was able to “shoot on the fly” which allowed easy mitigation against opponents.

Strengths

For the first time, we utilized Limelight cameras for increased autonomous capabilities. This allowed not just for more points in autonomous, but also endless possibilities in teleop as well. This new hardware allowed out team to implement code that would auto-align and shoot the notes when within range of the speaker. This would adjust the ramp and the speed of the flywheels to the perfect settings to ensure consistency.

Unique Features

One of the most minor features, ended up becoming one of the most discussed and popular talking points for the Team. The “Hoop” as we called it, was simply that. A small pvc pipe, formed in a very specific way, was critical to our success in competitions. It allowed the Robot to score in the AMP, as well as being flexible enough to drive under the Stage. This simple feature, solved a complex challenge that allowed out team to standout, while not sacrificing valuable weight.
